This work was created especially for Newby Hall and made by building layers of mesh over a steel framework then firing wire from a MIG welder at the surface to create the final texture.

A variety of different techniques and materials are used to produce both gallery and public artwork. They include coiling, welding, cutting, grinding, rusting, polishing, plating and casting. Mild and stainless steel, bronze, cast-iron, aluminium and stone are all used in this work.
Throughout his career David has maintained a commitment to education and has worked with schools and colleges across the country, encouraging both children and teachers to participate in sculpture projects.
