Spring Plant Fair - Sunday 9th May 2010 - 9 May 2010

The Spring Plant Fair will be a brilliant family day out!

As well as the 35 specialist nursertmen there will also be live demonstrations, traditional craftsmen and the Jazz Quartet.

Whether you want a chance to find that elusive plant or just get some inspiration for your garden this will be a great family day out

Gates open from 10a.m. - 4p.m.

Normal admission prices apply.

Spring Plants to look out for...

Lilacs
Crowded with hundreds of tiny florets in shades of blue, mauve, pink and white, lilac is one of the prettiest shrubs of spring. Small branches are fabulous as cut flowers and the shrubs can even be grown in pots to encourage early bloom.

Lupins
Lupins embellish the early-summer border with striking, rocket-like spikes.

Peonies
These exuberant and decadent flowers come into their own at the end of May. Shades range from white, pale pink, to deep red, and some peonies are very fragrant, which adds to their appeal.

Bearded irises
Complex colour combinations and showy yet delicate petals make this distinctive plant a favourite in country and town gardens alike.

Tulips
When the tulip was first introduced to Holland in the 16th century, the Dutch fell in love with the plant and there is now more than 5,000 varieties available.

Crocuses
Crocuses have long been associated with love. Legend has it that teh Greek God Zeus and Goddess Hera loved each other so passionately that the land where they lived burst open with flowers.

Fritillaria
Dotted among meadow grasses and along the edges of woodlands, Fritillaria, a member of the lily family welcomes Spring.

Magnolias
Magnolias are available is a wide varity of colours. The petals of this ancient symbol of purity range through ivories, pinks and purples.
