Newby Hall & Gardens, Ripon is the Historic Houses Garden of the Year and one of Yorkshire’s best loved visitor attractions, providing the perfect family day out.  Our award-winning garden boasts an extensive and exciting Adventure Playground for children of all ages, with small catering outlets selling ice cream, hot drinks and snacks.  We are now looking for exceptional people to join our team of Visitor Assistants for the 2020 Season.

Opportunities include part time and casual work which will include working at weekends, bank holidays and during the school holidays.

No qualifications are necessary as all training will be provided, although it would be an advantage to have previous experience working with customers.

The right candidates will be enthusiastic and motivated with excellent customer service skills.

Experience:

  • Customer Services: 1 year (Preferred)

Adventure Gardens Assistant

 Job Description

To ensure visitors are assisted in all aspects of their visit to Newby.  The role encompasses car parking, litter collection and bin emptying.  Ensuring the pedalo boats and adventure playground are operating in a safe and enjoyable manner.  Reports directly to the Adventure Gardens Foreman

Preparation of play area

Supervising parking of cars and directing of visitors

Assisting visitors in Pedalo Pond

Ensuring safe environment in Adventure Garden

Point of contact for accidents/incidents

 

Friendly, polite, sensible, hard-working, team player

Salary meets National Living Wage / National Minimum Wage

2 posts of 28-35 hrs per week (4 -5 days)

To work all weekends/bank holidays    10am – 5pm

Plus weekdays in high season

 

 

 Ice Cream Kiosk Assistant

Job Description

Ensure the Ice Cream Kiosk is operated in a friendly, clean, safe and efficient manner.  The kiosk is an important income generator with portion control, speed of service, financial accuracy and cleanliness being of paramount importance.

The Ice Cream Kiosk has a 2-way radio to communicate with the office or Adventure Gardens Foreman.  Reports directly to the Adventure Gardens Foreman

Preparation and cleanliness of IC Kiosk & surrounds

Serving customers

Cash handling

Stock checking

 

Friendly, polite, numerate, smart, hard-working, team player

Salary meets National Living Wage / National Minimum Wage

2 posts of 12-17 hrs per week (2-3 days)

To work all weekends/bank holidays  10am-5pm or 12noon – 5pm

Plus weekdays in high season

10am-5pm or 12noon – 5pm

 

 

Woodland Kiosk Assistant

The kiosk is an important income generator providing hot drinks, snacks and some retail items to visitors picnicking and to those attending events.  The Woodland Kiosk has a 2-way radio to communicate with the office or Adventure Gardens Foreman. Reports directly to the Adventure Gardens Foreman

Preparation and cleanliness of Kiosk

Serving customers, including hot drinks

Cash handling

Stock checking

Working alone

 

Friendly, confident, numerate, sensible, team player

Salary meets National Living Wage / National Minimum Wage

1 post of 7-10.5 hrs per week (2-3 days)

Easter, then all weekends/bank holidays from May    11.30am – 3pm

Plus weekdays in July/August

 

 

General Visitor Assistant

 Weekend and school holiday opportunities across the Adventure Gardens & Kiosks, to supplement the team above.  Successful applicants may be employed in any or all of the posts above.  Reports directly to the Adventure Gardens Foreman
