Apple Day and Season Close

Apple Day and Season Close

Sunday September 25th saw the last day of Newby Hall’s opening season, and what a busy day it was! The annual Apple Day was a great success with contenders queuing up to take part in the Apple Throwing Championships! Following a gruelling first heat, only the best ‘throwers’ progressed to the Grand Final which was won by Tom Henderson from Eskrick who threw his apple the furthest over the River Ure! Tom was presented with the ‘Golden Apple’ by Newby Hall’s owners Richard & Lucinda Compton.

The day was made complete with a Teddy Bears’ Picnic from the wonderful Make a Wish events and children of all ages were delighted to bring along their teddy bears to meet Bertie Bear, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit

We are now closed for the winter, but we can’t wait to welcome you back for the 2017 season which begins on the 1st April!
