Volunteer opportunities available within the Garden team

We currently have opportunities for volunteers to join our team working within the gardens at Newby Hall on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the year. We have one vacancy on Wednesdays and four on Thursdays.

Our Garden team are involved in a number of significant projects to improve and maintain the gardens at Newby Hall and we would welcome regular volunteers who want to help us to achieve our aims.

This is the perfect opportunity as a starting point for your career in horticulture and we especially welcome applications from those that are currently undertaking horticultural studies or about to start them and wish to gain more hands on experience working within the garden.

Tasks will involve a variety of general gardening activities including weeding, hoeing, planting, pruning, deadheading and leaf collecting among others. Our volunteers usually work as a group and often alongside a member of the Garden team. You don’t need to be an expert, all we ask is that you are enthusiastic in the way that you approach each task.

Why not join the Newby Hall garden volunteer team to learn new skills, meet like-minded others and join a team that strives to ensure Newby Hall gardens are maintained to the highest possible standard all year round.
